How to make a website that makes money?

The problem is that there is not a lot on information on the internet detailing how money is made with a website.  After a few hours of browsing the Internet I could not find the answers to the following questions:

  • For a given amount of traffic how much revenue is generated?  For example, if a website has 1000 visitors a day how much revenue is generated?
  • What methods of revenue methods work best?  Should I use text ads or banner ads?  How much does each generate per 1000 visits?
  • How much time must be spent to create and maintain a website that has traffic of 1000 visitors a day?  I want to know how much time I should expect to put into the website and what revenue returns should be expected.  Basically, what is the hourly wage of a webmaster?
  • How long does it take to get to the tipping point?.  The point where the traffic is increasing without any action from me.  I am sure that for the first while there will be only few visitors.  Then suddenly the number of visitors will increase and keep on increasing on its own.  How long does it take to get to that point?  How fast does it increase?

Most of the above questions I could not find answers to. And the answers I did find were vague and without any data to back the claim.  I only found statements like, “Once a website has lots of visitors the revenue will start rolling in”.  How much is ‘lots’?  How much is ‘rolling in’?

A website is a business and before starting any business a business plan needs to be created.  Unfortunately, currently there is not enough information on the Internet to create a website business plan with any confidence.  

Will this website teach you how to make money online with a website?

No.  I have no magic recipe for making million of dollars online.  This website only reveals how it makes money online.  Hopefully you can use this information to help you with your website.

Hopefully this website will help you figure out whether making money online is for you.  Or if you are already a webmaster then it gives you something to compare against - what are you doing right, what could you do better.
